A mostly blue-and-yellow parakeet, but highly variable in the balance, distribution, and intensity of those colors.\u00a0 Northern populations tend to be more extensively yellow.<\/p>
True to its name, the head is predominantly whitish or yellow. \u00a0The upperparts are otherwise mostly scaly with large black feather-centers fringed with yellow or aqua-blue.\u00a0 The rump is usually bluish in southern population and yellow in the north.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The underparts are mostly bluish with red undertail coverts.\u00a0 However, the throat and chest can be either yellow or blue.\u00a0 Northern birds typically have a yellow chest and contrasting blue throat.\u00a0 Southern birds tend to be yellow above and blue below, but the location of the transition varies.<\/p>
