Early Hawaiians engaged in extensive aquaculture along the southern coast of Molokai, altering the landscape by constructing an extensive chain of fishponds.\u00a0 Most have apparently breached and fallen beneath the waves, but a few remain and now support waterbirds, including Hawaiian Coot<\/strong><\/a>, \u201cHawaiian Stilt\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, and various migratory waterfowl and shorebirds, including Bristle-thighed Curlew<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 The brushy areas around them are dominated by introduced landbirds, including California Quail<\/strong><\/a>, Black<\/strong><\/a> and Gray Francolins<\/strong><\/a>, White-rumped Shama<\/strong>, African Silverbill<\/strong><\/a>, and Scaly-breasted Munia<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
